My theory is a healthy self-image leads to a happier life. When we LOVE our bodies as they are, we then will treat it better. I know that I am not as fat as I express. But it is tough to have a healthy body image when all you see in the media are women who look nothing like you! Tough to have great self-esteem when you have to compete with Beyonce! So today I am going to give pictures of real women who give me strength because they look like me! Curvy, happy, healthy and whole!
Do you read Marie Claire magazine? There is an monthly article called "Big girl in a skinny world" and she is not BIG, she is like your size but she writes great fashion articles.
ReplyDeleteyou can check her here: www.marieclaire.com/ashley
she gives great advice for women who are not stick but love fashion!!!
I heard about her, but I keep forgetting to check her out. I have to go look. Thank you so much Steph!!! Thank you for the support. It means so much to me.
ReplyDeleteI'm a small girl and I hate the way the media doesn't represent all women. I'm the smallest in my fam actually everyone else is curvy and vulputous and they always look at me like "You need to EAT"... and I DO, I eat a lot. Anyway, I hate it cuz while it may sound odd, I can feel my more curvy friends' and fam's discomfort which makes me uncomfortable because I think it's all beautiful.
ReplyDeletePS Ssorry to hear about your Grand-dad... hope he's doing better
@ I Mind that is a good point. You feel bad for being skinny. That makes me sad, because that is not your burden to carry. As women we have to stop saying " you need to eat girl" or " I know you not going to eat that too". If we care then find ways to support that does not make someone elses self image suffer due to that person not feeling good about themselves. That is not healthy. I think women are beautiful like you said no matter our size. If we can change what we don't like about ourselves then do something. If we can not change it, learn to accept it! That is my theory sis! The body we have now LOVE it! That is the key to healthy living not just weight lost. No more carring around extra weight (pun intended) for me LOL.
